Transport/Facility Manager

Our client based in Droitwich is expanding their team due to an exciting relocation. They offer grab lorry and tipper lorry hire along with the recycling of inert construction waste which happens on site at their yard and plant facilities. They operate a variety of modern machines and equipment, which ensure they can offer customers the best recycled aggregate available.

Responsibilities
• Managing the yard and the incoming/outgoing of material to process and finished product for sale.
• Managing daily duties of drivers and yard staff
• Working directly alongside the Managing director to ensure smooth running of the facility/recycling depot.
• Route planning for 5 HGVs, these are expected to be single drops.
• Load allocation and compliance checks
• Taking responsibility for 5 drivers including briefing/de - briefings
• General running of the recycling facility.
• Managing the traffic desk and dealing with any escalated driver or transport issues.
• Identifying and progressing opportunities to develop business with existing customers

Background
• The ideal candidate will come from the skip hire/recycling industry or HGV logistics linked with construction industry.
• Transport manager CPC licence is essential
• WAMITAB qualification an advantage
• Experience in routing vehicles
• Management experience of a yard environment
• Ability to quickly gain a good understanding of the customer base and market.
• Ability to coach, train, develop and inspire your staff to promote a hardworking and positive team spirit.
• An understanding of standard operating procedures and how to create, develop, record and manage their adherence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning, organizing the work force, supervising loading and un-loading, goods in and goods out, supporting the warehouse manager with operational tasks and overseeing the daily and weekly operations reporting and key performance (KPI) management
Maintain a proactive approach to risk management and adherence to site health & safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and added value whilst key service levels are not affected
Ensure all training requirements are met and regularly reviewed. Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
Exceptional people management, communication and leadership skills. Implementing agreed processes to review performance, monitor absence and sickness and address issues within clear guidelines
Identify and escalate training and qualification gaps and conduct induction and technical training for the team
Participating in regular operation reviews and conducts regular colleague briefings via the business intelligence reports
Knowledge of experience of manual handling equipment and warehouse management system
Ensure all matters of performance or capability are managed in line with company procedure and delivery targets are met along with excellent communication skills and the ability to delegate. Ability to work under pressure. Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and enforced
What you will need:

At Least three years' progressive experience of leading and managing a warehouse team
Experience of promoting health and safety in the work environment.
Knowledge of warehousing and stock control methods and procedures.
Strong and effective communication including verbal and nonverbal.
Exceptional organisation with an attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads and resolve conflicts effectively
Flexibility to manage and adapt to change.
Positive attitude in challenging situations.
Problem-solving skills to find solutions and make decisions.
