Job Title: Traffic Planner DaysReporting to: Depot Manger Hours: Shift pattern 4 on / 4 off days (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
Job Purpose: To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure that the customer receives a first-class service in a cost-effective way.
Main duties and responsibilities:
_ Working with customers/suppliers/drivers and other traffic desks, planning routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure the smooth running of the operation_ Prioritising workload, route planning driver brief and de-brief _ Liaise with other depots within the Company_ Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads_ Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots_ Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly_ Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels_ Maintain computerised system such as Stirling. Have the skills to use excel spread sheet_ A good understanding of transport regulations currently in force_ Good geographical knowledge_ Booking driver agency staff depending on workload_ Must monitor Compliance and work with drivers and Compliance to eliminate infringements_ Must ensure that all drivers are aware of SAFED, and be actively involved in improving SAFED achievements to goals_ Must be an integral part of, and is responsible for employee health and safety_ Ensure that vehicles and trailers are available in a timely manner to adhere to Compliance and inspection requirements_ Provide general support appropriate to the management when require
Experience Essential_ GCSE/NVQ standard. Experience of working at a similar level._ Traffic management_ Dealing with VOSA Compliance_ Problem solving/logical thinking_ Working unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines._ Computer skills - Stirling (training will be provided), Excel_ Good communication skills, interaction at all levels internal and external._ Geographical knowledge_ Team player with a flexible Can Do attitude_ Distribution/Logistics/Supply Chain Environment
