Main function of the job:
Working alongside and being trained / mentored by a Senior Operations Coordinator and as part of a team. The role is primarily involved in the European road operations department liaising with both clients and suppliers and managing export and import jobs from start to finish including post Brexit Customs Clearance formalities. From quotation stage, making bookings, monitoring shipments in transit and processing final invoices and maximising the Gross Profit whilst giving excellent customer service.

Working Environment
Modern purpose built office and warehouse in Redditch.

Duties of the role:
• Working within and supporting the operations team.
• Liaising with clients (Both verbally and in writing).
• Preparation of freight quotations.
• Negotiating with clients and suppliers.
• Raising job files and appropriate paperwork and placing bookings with suppliers.
• Monitoring shipments in transit.
• Problem solving any issues that arise.
• Raising sales invoices.

Experience / skills required
• Ideally a 2:1 degree.
• Living within a 40 minute commute of Redditch.
• Own car / transport.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Numerate.
• Strong IT skills (Microsoft packages).
• A quick thinker with initiative.
• A willingness to learn and a good work ethic.

Production Planner

Our client are looking for an experienced Production Planner, ideally with a background within the automotive industry.

Reports to: Operations Director

Responsibilities:    

Responsibility for planning all shop floor personnel and equipment. Issuing all works orders to ensure the overall agreed production plan is met and all customer schedules are fulfilled.

Responsible for determining the production capacity to meet changing demands. Understands how the business operates and plans for future capacity requirements. Undertakes planning activities to ensure targets are met and optimises manufacturing efficiency.

Duties;

• Encourage safe working practices and lead by example
• Encourage near miss reporting
• Plan shop floor loading for all personnel and equipment
• Create capacity plans which meet business targets and optimise manufacturing efficiency and costs
• Review systems and methods to continually improve plans so that the organisation can better anticipate customer needs
• Assess existing capacity and draw up forecasts based on future plans
• Analyse specifications and capacity and undertake appropriate calculations to estimate job requirements, in terms of labour and machine capacity
• Continually monitor and review plans and make appropriate adjustments in the event of changes and unforeseen circumstances
• Reconcile variances from original plans and maintain a view of actual against forecast projections
• Continually review ways in which to make improvements and make the capacity planning and manufacturing process more efficient
• Obtain appropriate information and data in order to prepare schedules, plans and forecasts
• Liaise with customers to understand existing and future demands
• Communicate plans and forecasts internally and review plans to ensure efficient resource utilisation
• Support meetings supplying relevant data, provide updates on plans and highlight concerns relating to actual or potential issue
• Escalate any issues to Operations Director or others in the organisation particularly when there is risk which could prevent the organisation meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concern
• Support product change requests and prepare plans and forecasts in line with change
• Raise works orders and provide kitting information
• Co-ordinate on-time kit delivery to shop floor (with works order).
• Monitor throughput and output.

• Works with Scheduler to ensure optimum shipment loading.
• Work with Factory Master to ensure correct inventory and WIP data is maintained.
• Work with Operations Director / Shopfloor Supervisor / Individuals to ensure accurate bookings and to trouble-shoot issues.
• Investigate and solve issues due to booking errors / anomalies in conjunction with the FM expert as required.
• As and when required assist in Production Office / Shop Floor with any reasonable request for support.
